A former Nigerian minister Femi Fanikayode and a serving Senator Dino Melaye have slammed Nigeria’s President Buhari for the slow response to the plight of Nigerians due to the xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
Both men in separate statements on micro-blogging app, Twitter expressed their displeasure over the Federal Government’s inaction to the killings its citizens and destruction of their properties worth millions.
In a reply to Buhari’s first comment on the crisis, Senator Dino said it was easy for the president to travel out for medical checks, but when it’s time to address important matters affecting his people, Buhari would send an envoy and should take the lead for once.
If it’s to travel out to chill in the name of medical check up, you will be number one. Time to grow balls and head out to address important matters affecting your people, you want to send envoy. Were you not once a General ???
Take the lead for once!!! https://t.co/jqIyYy0Bz8

Femi Fani-Kayode shared his view on the matter stating that “the only way to make the South Africans appreciate that Nigerians cannot be killed like chickens is not by sending an envoy but by breaking off diplomatic relations and nationalising all South African companies in Nigeria.”
The only way to make the South Africans appreciate that Nigerians cannot be killed like chickens is not by sending an envoy but by breaking off diplomatic relations and nationalising all SouthAfrican companies in Nigeria. If they do not stop after that then we should declare war.

Many Nigerians have also shared the sentiments of these politicians, saying the government only responds to trivial matters and not issues that affect citizens. They have also asked if there is a president in the country, which has led to the trending topic on Twitter, #WeNoGetPresident.
