In a bid to quit dependence on oil and to effectively boost tourism for increased revenue generation and geared towards the realization of a fair share of the global tourism revenue, the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Culture and Tourism has launched a brand identity logo competition with the theme, “Amazing Akwa Ibom…the Preferred Destination”

This was revealed this during a press conference on Monday by Rt Hon. Victor Antai, the state’s Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, saying the competition is an excellent opportunity to promote and strengthen Akwa Ibom as a brand revealing the state potentials.

In his words, “In recent times, Akwa Ibom State has become many things to many people, the state has been repackaged to a show piece of delectable delivery by opening its doors very wide, with open minds and open pleasures with rebranded people making it a tourist paradise.

“Therefore, in order to boost tourism for increased revenue generation in this sector, the state Government is undertaking several destination projects towards this realization for a fair share of the global tourism revenue.

“To add this effectively, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism needs to ground the state with a tourism brand identity, and for this singular reason, she is reaching out to the public through the press today to participate in the tourism identity logo competition with the theme “Amazing Akwa Ibom..the Preferred destination.
