Ahead of the Ibom Christmas Celebration this December, the Culture and Tourism Commissioner, Hon Orman Esin on Tuesday inspected the site for the Christmas Village.
Hon Esin said that setting up the Christmas Village will afford residents and visitors the right location and ambience to enjoy the season.
“It will be a lovely and engaging experience this year for Akwa Ibom people and there is no point considering travelling outside the State for the celebrations. We have lots of amazing activities lined up to entertain guests while keeping the place busy for 32 days non-stop!”
The Christmas village is located at the Ibibio Unity Museum green area and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has declared the vendor space free of charge, as the construction of booths will be done by prospective vendors and according to the specific model to be provided by the agency.
Also, Mr Esin announced a partnership with a financial institution in the State, Newdawn microfinance bank, to build the stalls and provide soft loans for intending vendors with a flexible repayment plan.
He also inspected the Edet Akpan Avenue (4 Lanes), route for the Christmas Parade, which will have several adjudication points where the five bands will be scored by the team of judges.
