President Muhammadu Buhari has signed the Not-Too-Young-To-Run Bill into law. This took place on Thursday afternoon inside the Council Chambers of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja, reports DailyTrust.
This is coming shortly after he had pledged to sign the bill into law during his Democracy Day broadcast on Tuesday.
The bill was last year passed by the National Assembly, altering to Sections 65, 106, 131, 177 of the Constitution to reduce the age qualification for president from 40 to 30; governor from 35 to 30; senator from 35 to 30; House of Representatives membership from 30 to 25 and State House of Assembly membership from 30 to 25.
It has been recalled that there has been a clamour for this bill to be passed into in other to allow younger Nigerians to participate in nation building by seeking for political offices which includes the senate and the presidency.
