Sterling Bank has taken down its tweet which caused what was referred to as #BankWars on social media over the weekend.
The tweet made by the financial institution as it’s new marketing camapign had featured the icons of it’s competitors; GT Bank, Union Bank, First Bank, Access Bank who did not receive a warm reception which saw series of shades back and forth from the aggrieved banks and customers who also joined the crossfire of words. (Click here if you missed it).
Below is the tweet that caused the drama.
“Shoot for the moon, become a star – it’s the least you deserve. Welcome to Sterling Bank”
But according to fillers around, one of the banks had made a report to the Nigeria’s Apex Bank, CBN about the matter which they regarded as representing their brand in “bad light”.
Our apologies go out to all the banks -the likeness of whose logos & buildings featured in a post which we have since deleted.
We remain committed to building an organisation that enables our youth find expression & we will continue to do this in the most responsible fashion. pic.twitter.com/ZBgGBRel9b
