The founder of ALERT Nigeria, Mr. Iboro Otu has declared his intention to join the Akwa Ibom governorship race come 2019.
Mr. Otu made this declaration known via his Facebook page saying:
“It’s been two long months of quiet introspection and consultations on an issue that’s been simmering for many many years; issues about what has been, what is and what is to come; on the development of Akwa Ibom state.”
“Our common challenges – beyond the 16 years of wanton corruption and impunity to date, the current political dramas, decamping and selfish betrayals taking place today – need serious and competent hands going forward. Presented here is an opportunity for us to take back our land and make good on promises deserving of Akwa Ibom people”, he adds.
He concludes by saying, “My vision/reality for Akwa Ibom is a land of milk and honey, a land where every youth is an employer or employee, contributing their quota to the development of our communities and the world. I see an Akwa Ibom where schools are adequately equipped, staffed and funded, with students carrying out research and development projects like their contemporaries globally. I see functioning primary and secondary healthcare centers in every local government area, bursting with great services to citizens that are all covered by state healthcare insurance. I see a thriving ICT industry, booming agriculture and agro-allied ecosystem, our youths powering the African and global markets with technologies of the future. I see Akwa Ibom thriving/living its full potential.” Read his full declaration statement HERE.
In September 2017, Iboro Otu launched his ALERT Nigeria grassroots development roadmap in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital. Since inception, the project has reached out to thousands of youths through its ambassadors and the various outreach engagements in villages and tertiary institutions across the Sate.
He is yet to disclose which Political Party he will pursue his governorship ambition.
