The Akwa Ibom State Government has promised increased support and technical assistance to Cooperative Societies in the state. The Senior Special Assistant to the Akwa Ibom State Governor on Microfinance and Enterprise Development, Mr. Ime Uwah made the commitment today, while granting audience to Local Government Chapter Presidents of the Dakkada Multipurpose Cooperative Society in his office.
Uwah lauded the Chapter Presidents and indeed the entire membership of the cooperative societies for their support and commitment to the re-election of the Governor, recalling that the Cooperative Society was one of the first Organisations to openly endorse Governor Udom Emmanuel for a second term in Office during the annual general meeting held in August 2017. He however reminded the Chapter Presidents that the Dakkada Multipurpose Cooperative Society is not a political formation but a business entity whose major agenda is profit making and betterment of the lives of her members. He urged the cooperative to show commitment in cooperative activities, membership support and facilities repayment so as to attract increased government support and recognition.
Earlier, the President of the Dakkada Multipurpose Cooperative Society, and Mkpat Enin Chapter President, Mrs. Jane Xavier Ekwere said the Chapter Presidents were in the Directorate on a courtesy and solidarity visit to the SSA to register their support for his new office. Ekwere thanked the Udom Emmanuel administration for the Dakkada Multipurpose Cooperative Society initiative which she said had taken the impact of governance to the hinterlands.
Also present at the Parley was the Executive Secretary, Akwa Ibom Micro-credit Scheme, Mr. Monday John.
