Fashion entrepreneur and style enthusiast, Unyime Andem, the CEO of two fashion brands; Dignified Clothing and Dicca Coutre opens up on his fashion side; worst style moment, best style icon, wish list, dream shopping destination and more with #MyStyleFile.
What you’d never be caught wearing.
Fashion is an integral part of me, creativity can drive me into wearing anything I am comfortable in and not confined to rules.
Who is your Style icon?
(Laughs)…mmmh! Style icon, sincerely I have numerous ones, am a big fan of Sean Combs a.k.a P Diddy. Back here in Nigeria its Noble Igwe, D’bani, Ray Hushpuppi, but many times I like doing it my own way.
What is your typical outfit?
My fashion style cuts across casual, cooperate, African attire etc, but my typical outfit is Jeans and shirt. This is because I am very comfortable wearing them.
Outfit or Fashion Piece on your wish list.
Yeah, I do wish to have a lovely pair of Jay Z’s new 4:44 #Puma designed snickers…that’s my greatest wish for now.
Worst style moment.
(Laughs)…I never wanted to be reminded about this but you brought it up. A certain time in 2013,I joined a friend to Ouch’s fashion dinner organized by Uche Nnaji the C.E.O Ouch brand, I dressed casually on Jean with slippers, little did I know the dinner was going to have other celebrities like RMD, Tuface and many others. So I became the photographer that was snapping everyone and never appeared in any picture.
Describe your style *minimalist *risk taker *classic.
I should say I am a risk taker because I like trying out new things. However, in my world of fashion, a no-no for me are fake brands.
My morale instantly drops once I realize that a brand I am wearing is a fake one and it hurts when I fail to confirm the authenticity of a particular brand.
Fashion accessory you can’t do without.
Accessories? Oh I love accessories a lot. I wear accessories to match with my outfit, but can’t do without my wristwatch, bangle and eye glasses.
Dream fashion shopping destination
Oh! That’s a big one there…Paris on my mind! I can’t wait to get to see what it feels like shopping next to Ronaldo or Rihanna… (Laughs) That will be fun!
What’s your definition of style?
Style to me is creativity and confidence. Creativity is your ability to know what sits well on your physique and what matches with what…Confidence is when you don’t need people’s approval for your style. After all the Rihana that set fashion trends doesn’t have three heads.
When it comes to colours, I wear almost all but I love electric blue and pepper red and feel comfortable on it.
