Deserving sons and daughters from the Southern Nigeria extraction will be honoured for impacting the society and the region at the forthcoming South–South Leadership Advancement Awards.
According to the lead organizer, Kingsley Amafibe of Peace Ambassador Agency, after critically considering into the various achievements of these sons and daughters of South-South, there is no better way to appreciate them is the best way to go, hence give more drive to do more.
The event is billed to hold in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital on December 15, 2017 at Emerald Event Centre, Edet Akpan Avenue (4 Lane). On why the choice of Uyo to host the award, “Akwa Ibom State is peaceful and very strategic in the South-South; its peace or otherwise can affect other states in the region in one way or the other, that is why we chose it as host state”, Mr. Amafibe adds.
More so, issues threatening peace in the region which include militancy and kidnapping and other vices the region will be discussed during the summit session. “Peace in the Niger-Delta is very crucial to our economic survival as a nation and We must do everything collectively to sustain peace in the region, and that is the essence of choosing the theme for the summit,’’ he said.
The South–South Leadership Advancement Awards is an annual award that honours Nigerians, especially those from the South-South who contributed meaningfully to the development of the region.
The awards has over 20 categories and they include politics, entertainment, fashion, business, academia and more.
