Pictures are circulating on various social media platforms with captions that the recently erected statue of South Africa’s President, Jacob Zuma in Imo State has collapsed on Friday.
According to NgHubs.com, the Statue is rumoured to have been pulled down by angry youths.
The Statue which cost a whooping sum of 598 million naira was erected by the Governor of the State in honour of the South African President.
The Governor who had been strongly criticized in the media and the citizenry following the erection of the statue went ahead to unveil yet another statue of Liberia’s President, Sir Ellen Johnson who happens to be the first female president in Africa.
After the unveiling of Zuma’s statue, a chieftain in the state’s All Progressive Congress’ caucus, said the statue will bring in investors from beyond Africa despite public outcry condemning the gesture of the Governor.
It is also in the news that the Governor Rochas Okorocha plans to spend 850 million Naira on Christmas tree in December.
