Brig-Gen. Abdul Ibrahim Hassan, Commander of 2Brigade, Uyo disclosed fifty persons have been arrested by the Nigerian Army during Operation Crocodile Smile II activities which began in Akwa Ibom State two weeks ago.
The Commander of the brigade said those arrested included included kidnappers, vandals, armed robbers, cultists and economic saboteurs.
“We have arrested cultists, kidnappers, armed robbers, economic saboteurs, vandals and those people that carried out nefarious activities. We have arrested so many of them with incriminating weapons,” he said.
He said those arrested by the soldiers have been handed over to the Department of State Services (DSS) the police, and Nigerian Civil Defence Corps (NCDC) for further investigation and prosecution adding that the ‘Operation’ had a mandate to exterminate crime from the society and ensure lives are protected.
