A Non-Governmental Organisation, Alert Nigeria is set to embark on life touching projects for the development of youths in Akwa Ibom through its empowerment platform tagged IOLED – Iboro Otu Leadership and Entrepreneurial Discourse.
This was unveiled by the director of the project, Mr. Iboro Otu during a briefing of the press in Uyo at the office complex. Mr Otu who is a concerned Akwa ibomite stated that “IOLED is a dedicated knowledge driven platform that gives young Nigerians the opportunity to engage in constructive dialogue on the challenges of leadership and entrepreneurship in Nigeria and proffer practical solutions to identified problems in their communities.”
“The problem we are facing is not caused by the government, but the minds of the people and we need to change the paradigm by doing our own bits, because if we don’t do something, we won’t have our country”, he added.
The pilot phase of the programme is being implemented in Akwa Ibom State and has assembled a diverse team of industry actors, leading academics, educational institutions, innovators and social reformers to raise a fresh pool of young influencers in leadership and entrepreneurship that will drive positive social change in their communities. This will be done through research and development to stimulate critical thinking, broaden awareness and deepen understanding of young people of the prevalent challenges in their environment and proffer solutions to them.
It will be achieved by the quarterly Essay Competitions and were the winners would be given seed funding to solve the identified problems in their individual communities.
Other activities of IOLED include weekly ALERT NIGERIA Radio Show, Leadership and Entrepreneurship Trainings, Business Roundtable, Community Development Projects, Outstanding Projects and an annual award ceremony.
Iboro Otu Leadership and Entrepreneurial Discourse will be officially launched on October 4, 2017 at Hubitz Tech-Business Hub, 69 Enwe Street, Uyo byy 10am.
