For promoting the fundamental human rights, social justice, peaceful co -existence as well as his passion to actualize the dream of Governor Udom Emmanuel in the Housing sector, Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Housing and Special Duties, Mr Akan Okon, has bagged the 2017 Global Forum For Peace Justice and Human Rights Award for Excellence.
The ceremony, a prestigious and global platform award given annually to achievers from the Country whose contributions have led to the speedy growth and development of Nigeria, was held, Tuesday, at the Le Meridien Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort.
The Housing and Special Duties boss, was represented by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Bokime Asuquo, who received the award on his behalf.
Mr Okon, in his acceptance speech thanked the organisers for the honour and dedicated the award to the state governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel.
While thanking the organizers of the award ceremony for finding the State suitable for the occasion, the Commissioner said Akwa Ibom under the leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel was the leading peaceful State in the entire country.
Okon said Governor Emmanuel’s five star achievements since he came to power, on May 29, 2015, have given succour to ordinary citizens and hope to millions of Akwa Ibomites.
He used the occasion to call on Nigerians and International community to come and invest in the State as the current leadership has made Akwa Ibom an investor’s haven.
Meanwhile, Global Forum for Peace, Justice and Human Rights (GFPJHR) is a Non-Governmental, non-profit, non-religious and non-ethnic organization with the aim of creating awareness and sensitizing the general public at the convergence of these three key areas; peace, justice and human rights.
