Youth Alive Foundation is a non-governmental organization that seeks to play a part in facilitating a just, equitable and

progressive society in which young people can have access to social and economic opportunities and protect their basic human and political rights. Due to expanding work scope and increased project activities, we now have vacancies for the following positions.

 

  1. HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER

Location: Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria

Person Specification

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present information in a manner appropriate to the audience, draft correspondence and email responses;
  • Planning and control;
  • Ability to work unsupervised and take responsibility;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, email, internet and experience of inhouse databases together with use of web-based information systems;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Adaptable and flexible in approach to work;
  • Ability to analyze and use data and management information;
  • Good influencing skills and ability to foster and maintain successful working relationships with colleagues and contacts.
  • Proactive and results orientated
  • Tactful, approachable, discreet and diplomatic
  • Experience in human resource management; ·
  • Experience in managing performance reviews;
  • Experience in administrative duties, with a good range of relevant skills.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Performance management – deliver performance management programs that drive a high performance culture.
  • Recruitment and selection – direct and manage the recruitment and selection process of staff and volunteers.
  • Learning and development – implement and monitor effectiveness of training programs for staff and volunteers.
  • Human resources policy – develop, implement and maintain human resources policies across the organization, including training programs to educate and promote awareness of regulatory compliance.
  • Reporting and management of human resources metrics – produce reports on key metrics, including remuneration and benefits, absenteeism and turnover.
  • Overall responsibility for registering annual leave, sick leave, compassionate leave, etc in the staff personal files
  • Overall responsibility for preparing offer of appointments, contracts, payroll, salary payments and receipts
  • Responsible for monitoring and follow-up of Human Resource related issues among staff and volunteers.

Education
• Degree or Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management or Business Administration or any social related courses.

Knowledge and experience
• Minimum of 1 year experience in HR or 2 years in administration

Skills
• Competency in Microsoft applications especially Excel and Word
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Good writing skills
• Very keen in details
• Fluency in written English
• Ability to work independently

  1. MEDIA AND COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

Location: Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria

Person Specification

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in dealing with media locally, regionally and/or nationally
  • Ability to think creatively to identify promotional opportunities and then put these into action
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good presentation skills
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work flexibly and as part of a team with a positive, solution-focused approach.
  • Confidence and ability to deal with people at all levels
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure to strict deadlines across a range of activities
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Flexibility to attend meetings or work outside normal working hours when necessary
  • Innovative in generating ideas and practical solutions for the effectiveness of the communications team and the organization as a whole.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop, implement and evaluate media strategy in consultation with the publicity/outreach coordinator
  • Coordinate and support YAF press activities
  • Responsible for Publications – Design, printing and final edit.
  • Assist in managing and promoting events
  • Taking overall responsibility for developing and disseminating press releases working closely with staff members
  • Taking overall responsibility to write short articles/news stories on third sector media about YAF projects and policy positions
  • Assist with the collation of news cuttings and evaluation of PR campaigns.
  • Assist with the briefing of the staff team around news stories which are expected to prompt enquiries
  • Act as first point of contact for YAF for all media related inquires
  • Developing media contacts/links and media database for YAF; actively build relationships with key media people influencers to raise YAF profile
  • Prepare and supervise the production of branded promotional materials e.g. brochures, pull-up stands, business cards, website and email designs, promotional videos and multimedia programmes

Education
Degree or Higher Diploma in Journalism, Mass Communications or Media related courses.

Knowledge and experience
Minimum of 1 year experience in Communications or Media related fields.
