During a radio interview on Atlantic 104.5Fm with the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for health, Dr. Dominic Ukpong confirmed that the endemic disease, Lassa fever has hit the state. This is following reports from the state ministry of health with 4 cases and 1 death recorded so far.
He added that Lasa fever kill faster than HIV and AIDS and Akwa Ibom residents should ensure to keep their surroundings tidy, as dirty environments breed rats and rodents. More so he warmed on people to abstain from eating bushmeat or rats.
For rapid response, Dr. Dominic Ukpong asked the people to call dedicated help lines in any case of the disease should occur.
